Wonderful Week! November 18, 2013

Hola familia!!!

I love you all. Thank you for your support and prayers. I really do feel them :)

This week was great! A really big blessing of a week. This week, we were able to find, and teach really wonderful new people and help people come unto Christ, remember their baptismal covenants and listen to servants of the Lord. It was great! I was also able to see that the Lord really does make us instruments in His hands if we are obedient and dilligent.

On Saturday, we had the chance to be instructed and taught by various General Authorities of the church. Some of the Elders from the quorum of the 70 and to ELder Nelson from the quorum of the twelve apostles. THe spirit was incredible and we were able to learn how to work better with the members of the church to help the work of the Lord expand. There is a scripture that says ¨Behold, this is my work and my glory, to  bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. That is what we are doing. The Lord has once again revealed His Gospel and His Doctrine and has done it to help everyone gain immportality and eternal life. However, it is for us to decide if that is what we want. This life is full of trials and difficulties, and a lot of times, we fall into the word because it feels right and it is comfortable. However, it is important to remember that this is not the only life.

I know that the Plan of God is perfect and thanks to Jesus Christ, if we repent and put His doctrine into action, we can attain the high and glorious destiny of our Father in Heaven.

Love you all! Have a good week!

Grecia was baptized, and her less active mom was reactivated...reminded of the joy that came from the Gospel. :) Beautiful day. I love this work!

Happy Turkey Day! November 25, 2013

Que tengan un dia increĆble de Pavos!! :))

Here in Peru, I will not be eating a nice thanksgiving meal. BUT I will be thinking of you all and how grateful I really am to have you all as my family and to feel your love and feel your prayers every day :)

This week was a good one! I just really am so grateful to be here preaching the Gospel and helping others to come unto Christ. I feel the spirit every day and I see miracles every day. This truly is the Lord´s work. Nothing of much consequence happened this week so I am going to tell you about one of the investigators that we have..Hernesto :)

Hernesto is 76 years old and he was a referral from a family who are members of the church. The first time that we met with him, he said. ¨Look, just so you know, I was going to be a catholic priest and I am here to hear what you have to say to try to convince me so that we can compare our doctrines¨ Well...as missionaries, we do not contend with anyone and we just invite others to follow Christ, following the guidance of the spirit.

We taught him the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, how Christ´s original church was lost and restored again through Joseph Smith. We invited him to read the Book of Mormon and to pray to know if it was true. At the end of the lesson he said, ¨wow, what you are saying really makes me feel good. I feel such an immense peace that I have never felt before. You have taught me something that I did not know before and I am just in awe. I feel like it is true.¨

The next lesson that we had with him, he told us that he had had a dream, in which, a man in a white tunic had come to him and told him to continue listening to us and to follow this path. He then said, ¨I have a surprise for you. I have decided, I want to be baptized¨

This man is incredible. He is so receptive to the spirit and is so willing to follow Christ as he gains more and more witnesses from the Holy Ghost that these things are true. This work is true, and we can all know it if we read the Book of Mormon, pray, and attend church.

Love you all and enjoy the turkey!

Canevaro! November 11, 2013

Hola familia!

Buena semana familia!!! Oh boy, this week was great! Unfortunately, I really dont remember a whole lot of details, just that it was a great week with a lot of great things that happened. :) We are slowly but surely getting to know the area, the members, the investigators, the bus routes, and adjusting to Lima again after being out of it for about 10 months. I love it! There are super great people here and I just know and feel like I am here, in the Canevaro ward  for a reason. My companion is great and we are working hard together, and seeing the blessings that come from dilligence, persistence and patience. I really just love this work so much!

This saturday, we have a baptism of a sister...Grecia! She is the daughter of a less active member of the church (Ines) who has recently come back with a lot of excitement and a strong testimony to help. :) Grecia is super special and we are excited! This week we also were introduced to a sister named Maria. Maria is super great and is passing through a lot of difficulties and a lot of temptations in her life. She feels like she has gotten off on the wrong path and has been a bit far away from our Heavenly Father. She really has a strong desire to do whta is right and she is willing to do what it takes to be forgiven of her sins. Just this week, working with her and explaining the process of repentance has been a blessing. There is a light in her eyes that wasnt there before and is starting to have a better understanding of the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

There truly is no greater blessing, and no greater joy than to share with people the restored Gospel of the Jesus Christ and share with them that forgiveness is possible. All that is required is humility, effort and trust in Jesus Christ. Heavenly Father loves us so much and wants to help us in whatever way He can. We need to choose correctly, and He will be there :)

I hope your week is wonderful! This Saturday, we have the opportunity to sing in a choir for Elder Russell M Nelson from the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. I will let you know how it goes and what I learn :)

San Juan!! November 4, 2013

Hola Familia!!

Well, I have some exciting news! I was transferred to Lima!! My new companion Hna Delgado and I were called to open a new area of sisters in San Juan de Miraflores, which is in Lima, relatively close to Chorillos where I started my mission. My companion is from Jaen, Cajamarca and her mission is Mexico, but she is here waiting for her Visa. We are excited to be here and to work with new people and find those who the Lord has prepared for us.

I was super sad to leave Mala, especially saying goodbye to the members and my converts, but I know I was called here to San Juan for a purpose. Transfers were a bit odd this week as we got to our new area on Friday. These couple of days have been interesting and a testimony that we are supposed to be here. About 90% of the people that I have met look familiar to me. I obviously have never seen them in my life, but I recognize almost everyone! It is cool :)

We are planning on working hard and helping all those in our area to come unto Christ. We are working with a less active sister who has a daughter who is 10 who is preparing to be baptized. Her husband also wants to listen and get to know the church as well. I love it. There is literally no greater joy in helping people find Christ, and return to Him when they have fallen off the path.

I know that I am here for a purpose and I know that what I am teaching, the restored doctrine of Christ is true. When I testify, I feel the spirit, and can also see in other peoples eyes that they can also feel it. Heavenly Father loves us and that is why His restored Gospel is on the earth, to bring to pass the inmortality and eternal life of man.

I will have more to tell next week :) Love you all!

Con mucho amor siempre,
Hermana Elisheva Ali

Revelation is incredible! October 28, 2013

Hola familia!!

Allright, well this week, basically almost nothing happened to update you all on. Accept that we had interviews with President Douglas and a little training on how we can work better with the members to bring to pass this marvelous work. I really was able to strengthen my testimony this week of the importance and how incredible it is to have revelation in these days! A lot of people think that revelation stopped after the original 12 apostles died, and that all we need now is the scriptures to continue on the right path. The scriptures have incredible revelations and answers to our questions and our prayers, however, there are also living Prophets and Apostles who are guiding us right now, helping us with the trials that, as a world we are facing right now. It is incredible. I love it so much and it makes me feel incredible blessed to know.

I know that the Lord works through His servants and that each are called of God for a specific purpose. I know that the priesthood, that Jesus Christ gave to His Apostles is once again on the earth and we are able to see miracles thanks to it.

We were able this week to see change happen in a lot of people, especially those who have fallen away from the church, come back this past week. It was an incredible feeling. They are coming back because it is true. When we start to be humble, and accept God's will, He will bless us with the things we need, both temporally and spiritually. It is a promise. :)

Have a great week! This coming up week are transfers, I will let you know what happens. :)

Con mucho amor siempre,
Hermana Elisheva Ali :)
